Simple Office Organization Ideas

Believe it or not, there are a handful of things you can do to better organize your office that will almost immediately improve your effectiveness, dramatically reduce your stress and frustration, and possibly even set you up nicely for the fast track at work!

I know, I know – the odds are pretty good that your thinking this is a little bit crazy. After all, just how much of an impact could changing of the way you organize your office at work have on your ability to produce better quality results, faster, and with less stress and pressure?

Well, it turns out that a better organized office can transform almost every aspect of your time at work for the better – and that you have to be at least a little bit crazy not to take advantage of the leverage that these organizational tips and tricks offer.

Hide all of your wires

Since we lead very digital lifestyles at work – using all kinds of computers, tablets, phones, and other gadgets and gizmos – we have all kinds of wires running across our work surface, and this visual distraction is stealing from our ability to focus on things that are truly important.

By hiding your wires (with simple cable management), you’ll be able to clean up your “playing surface” and will immediately feel real really and a lot less stress throughout the day.

Label everything

A label maker can be your best friend in the office, especially if you’re looking to stay organized in a workspace that is communal in nature and everyone seems to be grabbing your resources and not returning them quite as promptly as you’d like. On top of that, you’ll make your resources more accessible to those on your team that do need them from time to time, as a label with something like PRINTER PAPER on the drawer where printer paper is contained can avoid a lot of unnecessary questions and conversations.

Go paperless as much as possible

Electronic data transfer and electronic collaboration is more effective and a lot more efficient than it ever used to be before, and these days you can go paperless with pretty much anything that your business does – and you’ll see significant results across the board.

Not only will you be able to search any of the digital documents you go paperless with, but you’ll also be able to speed up collaboration, speed of communication, and keep more efficient and more effective paper trails for your business without having to keep physical paper around that can really clutter things up.

Shrink your to do list

Multitasking seems like a good idea at first, until you realize you are only distracting yourself and pulling your resources in a bunch of different avenues when you could get much better results by focusing on one thing and one thing only before you move on to something else.

Shrink your to do list as much as possible and commit to doing one thing at a time before you move on to the next thing and you’ll find your productivity shoots right through the roof.
