What Is A Whole Food Supplement?

Whole food supplements are gaining popularity today. This is because people are finally starting to take note of the fact that we really aren’t helping ourselves by consuming synthetic products. Our bodies are made to consume natural products and that is exactly what a whole food supplement offers. When you purchase regular supplements, they generally are synthetic isolates. Sure, they contain minerals and vitamins, but they are also full of products that your body simply cannot handle well.

A whole food is something that hasn’t been processed in anyway. It is still completely natural, in other words. Obviously, our bodies are far better equipped to deal with these types of foods. Generally speaking, a true whole food supplement is a vegetable, fruit or herb (or combination thereof) that has been compressed so that it can easily be swallowed. Really good whole food supplements use ingredients that haven’t been cooked either.

Of course, there is nothing better than simply eating the real deal. We should all be committed to having a healthy lifestyle and consuming organic produce that is designed to help our bodies maintain health. However, this is almost impossible to do, unless you have a whole lot of time and/or a whole lot of money. Furthermore, supplements are often concentrated. This means that a single capsule could give you as many vitamins and minerals as you would find in an entire punnet of certain fruits.

The reality is that our diets are currently insufficient to give us all the vitamins and minerals that we need, and that our lives are organized in such a way that it is almost impossible to truly change our lifestyle to meet our natural needs. This is where whole food supplements can truly help make you healthy overall.
